The Wear Red for Women's Heart Disease Awareness luncheon was held last Thursday in Kochoff Hall. Go Red for Women is the American Heart Association's nationwide movement that celebrates the energy, passion and power women have to band together and wipe out heart disease.
The University of Michigan-Dearborn's American Marketing Association (AMA) held a charity event at BD's Mongolian Barbecue in Dearborn last Thursday from 6-8 p.m. for the Children's Hospital of Michigan. Roughly 35 people attended the event and helped to raise around $200 for the hospital, which included both the proceeds from ticket sales and private donations.
Lyceum celebrates its 35th anniversary this year. Lyceum is the student-produced literary journal at the University of Michigan- Dearborn. It is published twice a year, generally one issue in the fall and the other in winter. Students, alumni, faculty and staff are welcome to submit original works, including poetry, prose, photography and art.
"Quiet your mind. Filter out all distractions," said Lisa Phelps, yoga instructor for the afternoon. Phelps is a yoga instructor at the Fairlane Club. The Student Activities Board (SAB) sponsored a yoga demonstration class yesterday in Kochoff Hall for an hour.
The Student Environmental Association (SEA) recently donated money to the Environmental Interpretive Center (EIC) and to the Southeast Michigan Land Conservancy (SMLC). Each organization received $500. The money came as part of a grant that the SEA received in November from the Michigan Association of Environmental Professionals (MAEP).
