To put it simply, we at College Publisher think this site is the best college news content aggregation system ever created. This syndication site automatically displays the most active content in college newpapers. We feature articles, breaking news, podcasts, maps, and PDF front pages of physical newspapers.

How it works

We draw content from the hundreds of college newspapers who use the College Publisher software via proprietary software algorithms. That means that the content displayed by this system is not selected by a person. The most interesting stuff just "bubbles to the top".

Aren't stories from papers with the most traffic going to always be listed on top?

No. This system pulls popular content based on relative popularity on a per-paper basis. Naturally, papers that publish more often will get more exposure just because those papers produce more content in general. However, on a day when a big paper and a small paper publish, both papers use the same system of relative popularity analysis for selecting articles to be included on this site. If we didn't do that, stories from the top papers would always show up on top. Our software creates a level playing field between large and small newspapers.

What is an RSS feed?

Really Simple Syndication (RSS) is a way of having headlines, story summaries, and links to full-length articles from the vast College Publisher network delivered to your desktop, or added to your blog or web site.

These "feeds," or "channels," are free and are created in the XML-based RSS 2.0 format. XML encodes data in a way that is easily readable by other web sites and a variety of desktop software programs known as news readers, or news aggregators. News readers allow you to view items from dozens, or even hundreds, of web sites at one time, and have the information constantly updated. Many portal websites like Yahoo! and Google have RSS reading features, as well as personal blog software like WordPress.

How to Add RSS Feeds to Sites and Software

To subscribe to an RSS feed, look for the RSS graphic on this page and elsewhere on the site. Mouse over the image, right-click, and copy the URL. (Choose "Copy Shortcut" for Internet Explorer, "Copy Link Location" for Netscape and Mozilla, or "Copy Link Address" for Opera). In your news reader, select the option that adds a new feed or channel, then paste in the URL and click OK.
